“Web 3.0 will stand against centralized society and problems created by the Internet,” said Gavin Wood, Polkadot Founder and Ethereum Co-founder.
At the 2019 Korea Blockchain Week(KBW2019)’s main conference D.FINE held at Grand Intercontinental Seoul Parnas in Teheran-ro, Seoul, Oct. 1, Wood emphasized the necessity for Web 3.0.
He pointed out that Facebook Livra already uses a centralized system. “Facebook has governance, such as CEOs, advisers and offices, so there are legal structures or agreed-upon. For example, IBM’s fully centralized hyperedger.” he said.
“Unlike Facebook and IBM, blockchain is completely de-centralized, so it can be seen as a completely different structure. Web 3.0 will play a role in opposing the centralized institution,” he added.
He also stressed that blockchain can solve the problem of social structure. “As control of information has become centralized, problems have arisen, such as personal information being attacked, and the problem of information leakage has become more widespread as the Internet has emerged. Blockchain can prevent the copying of information through de-centralization,” he said.
